Pedestrian bridge construction supporting stream diversion works for continued ball clay extraction operations.
Sibelco required the diversion of Ugbrook Stream to allow continued extraction of high-quality ball clay at the site. As part of the wider scheme, a new pedestrian bridge was needed to maintain access across the diverted watercourse.
Sibelco appointed a dedicated earth-moving contractor to undertake all major excavation and reshaping works for the stream diversion. Kennford Tarmacadam were contracted to deliver the structural and finishing elements associated with the new bridge installation.

Our responsibilities covered all structural elements and finishing works for the bridge installation.
Construction of reinforced concrete abutments for the new pedestrian bridge
Crane-lifting and installation of the prefabricated bridge structure
Installation of safety fencing on both sides of the bridge
Construction of new footpath approaches to the bridge
Tarmacking and surface finishing of the pedestrian route
Constructed to spec and handed over on schedule for the bridge lift
Pre-made pedestrian bridge installed safely and efficiently
All access routes tied in seamlessly afterwards
“Sibelco were fully satisfied, enabling them to progress their mining operations without delay.”
“Devon County Council were also pleased with the standard of workmanship and the integration of the new pedestrian access.”
The finished bridge provides safe, durable access across the newly diverted stream and supports the long-term operational needs of the site.
